[Point in time taken from canon] Alice In The Country of Hearts, chapter 20 before running into Ace.
[Background]
Boris was born in wonderland to play a role and he is fine with doing that. There are only a few people that have roles in wonderland while the others are not distinguished. There are only a few facts that are known about Boris’s history before Alice came. He has always just wondered around Wonderland where and when he likes. He is part of the Amusement Park, which is a territory of wonderland. There are three of them, the other two being the Heart Castle and the Hatter’s syndicate family. There is only one neutral area in the center of Wonderland, which is the clock tower plaza. Only the role players have distinct faces and personalities. Each of the role holders has a distinct weapon that they carry around with them that transforms from something else when they aren’t using them. Boris has a gun, but it’s not clear what it normally looks like when he’s not using it.
When Alice first meets Boris, he is hanging out with the gatekeepers of the Mafia, who are twin boys. They are friends and like to hang out. He doesn’t attack her, since she is a friend of the boys and because she smells really good! This is when he tells her his boss’s real name because she asked why the mafia boss and his boss don’t get along. Everyone in the amusement had known his name was Mary Glowland, but it had been the Hatter, the boss of the Mafia, that spread it all around the country and really upset him because of that. Boris warns her that it’s not a great idea to call him that name. He likes Alice because she enjoys a laugh. He’s easy going about where He thinks that Alice should come visit the Amusement Park. The Twins want her to come see the Mafia boss first though, but Boris doesn’t really care which they do first. They guys don’t actually take her to either location though and they part ways.
Boris comes by the clock tower where Alice is living with the Clock Maker with the twins later to take Alice to the amusement park. The Hatter was out on business so the twins lost out on taking her there first. While there, Boris takes the opportunity to tease the Clock Maker about being attached to Alice before dragging her off to the park. When the group arrives, they are greeted by Mary Glowland who tries to play his violin for them. Boris tries to stop Mary from playing since he is terrible at it, but he is late and they all suffer the horrible noise. It is then that Alice yells at Mary Glowland to stop, using his real name. It really upsets Mary that Boris told, but Boris just brushes it off with a smile and a chuckle. It was all in good fun to him, and it’s not like he didn’t warn Alice that it would upset his boss. When Mary starts to go on an angry rant about it, Boris makes them all clear out so they aren’t tangled up in it.
When they are away from Mary, they spot the Hatter and Elliot March, the Main role players of the Mafia. The business that had take him away from his house was talks with Mary about land. Boris tells them that right then wasn’t a good time for the talks though and the Mafia group should come back later since Mary was having a fit at the time. Agreeing that it would just be troublesome, The Hatter decides to leave. However, before the group can do so, Mary spots the Hatter and confronts him. The Hatter has no trouble picking a fight with the other man though and Mary starts firing his up all over the place. Boris knows that he can’t do much against his boss’s gun and most everyone just tries to do damage control at first and get out of the way. Alice is dragged away by the Hatter before anyone can register what he was doing though. The Hatter then invites her to a tea party after meeting up with the rest of his Mafia members.
Boris comes to the Hatter’s tea party with everyone, showing that he just goes around wherever she wants to, even with the fighting. He mostly just sits back and enjoys listening to everyone talk. When Alice tugs on and pets Elliot March’s ears, Boris can’t help but laugh. He thinks that Alice is creepy for having a thing for bunny ears, but awesome tugging on them. Boris tells Alice that the old man, Mary, has a free pass waiting for her at the park so she can come back and enjoy the park properly. When Boris brings that up, Alice asks about Mary’s violin. She had noticed that it wasn’t the true shape of a violin and wanted to know if Boris knew anything about it. It was something that Boris had noticed, but kind of dismissed. He said that it really didn’t mater what shape it was since Mary probably wouldn’t play an accurate one any better. This causes everyone to laugh. No one seems to mind that Boris talks about the park even though they are at the mafia’s house. They all just have a good time until the tea party is over and Boris heads out on his way on his own time.
Boris doesn’t see Alice again until he’s coming back to the Amusement Park from sneaking around the castle. He is hurt and it really upsets Alice. He doesn’t see it as a problem, but Alice worries over him so much that he besides to take her to his room. Boris starts to lick his wounds once they are inside, but it upsets Alice and she insists that he allows her to wrap his wounds. When she’s done, Alice says the she cares about Boris. It’s really surprising to Boris! He explains that Mary just yell at him when he bleeds on the floors after his kill-or-be-killed games. He’s confused by Alice’s negative reaction to how he plays and asks if she’s actually worried about him dying. Alice says she really does care, which makes Boris think she’s really odd. He explains that it’s just normal in Wonderland and that’s just what everyone one does. Since her saying that makes him think about it, how they are different, Boris wants to hear all about Alice’s world and doesn’t let her get away with not telling him. Alice doesn’t see why he wants to know so badly until he explains that her normal isn’t normal to him. Since Boris is so curious, he really wants to know all about it! Alice gives in and besides to tell tells Boris a few things about her world. She says first that people with animal ears and tails are defiantly not normal in her world and that she thinks that his cat ears are creepy. Boris mopes about this because it’s not something that he can control, being a cat. The next thing Alice says is that carrying around weapons is not normal in her world. This really fascinates Boris and he besides that Alice just has to hold his favorite gun! He doesn’t take no for an answer either and in the end he finally gets Alice to hold onto his favorite gun. He thinks Alice has a good aim while holding it and should get one too! Alice says that She couldn’t though. She could never shoot someone because the weight of the deaths would be too much for her. Boris finds that a really odd thing to say and says that it’s no big deal in Wonderland. If he dies, the Clock Maker can just fix his clock and then there would be a new person for his role. When Boris says that though, it really upsets Alice and she stomps on his foot and pulls his tale. She does it to show that it’s silly to just say that right here and now doesn’t matter at all. Boris’s life wasn’t just something that should be thrown away because there was only one of him. That even if his clock was to be fixed, the new role holder wouldn’t be Boris anymore and they would never be able to see each other again. This is the first time that Boris ever thought about something like that. He thinks that it would really suck to never get to see Alice again so he decides that he’ll take better care when having his fun. He lets Alice know that she is the only one that would miss him. Alice says that can’t be true, but Boris knows it for sure. After all, it wasn’t something that people in Wonderland ever thought about. It’s then that Boris starts to really like Alice and tells her she makes him feel all mushy inside. After that Alice heads home to the clock towers.
It’s not until after Alice sees the Hatter that Boris sees Alice again. She asks if Boris is feeling better, and he says that he is. He confesses that he had snuck into the castle gardens again, but had been careful and didn’t get hurt at all! He notices that Alice isn’t her normal cheerful self though. He doesn’t like that and cheers her up with a flower pun. They are his favorite, even if they happen to be really bad. Alice heads back to the clock tower again once she has a smile on her face, which makes Boris happy.
Boris goes back to the castle later on to have some fun with the guards, but just as he lands in the garden, he finds Alice stunned and surrounded by a few dead bodies. It confuses him to see her sitting like that, and worries about her. Alice scolds him for being there though. He says he’s sorry, but he’s mostly just worried about how shaken Alice looks. Boris decides that it’s best to take Alice to the Amusement Park to make her smile again. Once they are there the two go on all the fun rides and attractions. Boris is able to make Alice smile again, which makes him very happy! After a while, Mary Glowland finds the two and decides that they HAVE to come try out his new ride. Boris knows that it’s a bad idea since his boss likes to come up with crazy and dangerous rides, but they are both forced into riding it when the park workers come and take them away. The ride is so violent it makes Alice pass out.
Alice wakes up with Boris and Mary hovering by her bedside. It’s then that Mary says that Boris and Alice looked really cute on their date and he was sorry for making it end like he had. Neither Boris nor Alice had thought of it s a date though, and it makes Boris stutter and blush. He tries to explain that all he ha been doing was trying to make Alice smile and be happy again! It surprises Alice to hear that, but it makes her smile too. He calms the situation down by saying he had done just that , which makes Boris really happy. Mary tries to make up for his mistake by giving Alice two permanent passes to the Amusement Park so that she could come back whenever she wanted to! Alice and Boris get a little laugh in at Mary though when they talk about going in the Mary Go Round.
Boris and Alice then head back out when she’s cleared to go and enjoy the park even more. When Alice has to go, Boris buys Alice a headband with fuzzy bear ears and some cute mittens that made it look like she had paws. Boris says that it will make the clock maker laugh, but when they get back to the tower he doesn’t like them at all. Boris thinks that the Clock Maker is just being stupid and that they really are cute, but since the Clock Maker didn’t like them Alice becomes upset with Boris for getting her to wear them. She pushes him to leave, which Boris does after some protest.
[Personality]
Boris is easy going. He doesn’t really think about what others think about him since they pay him no mind. Even his boss doesn’t give him many orders since he’s basically a freeloader. He has the ability to walk around to any place he wants to, and isn’t always greeted with a fight like most of the others are. He isn’t really welcomed at the Queen’s castle, but he likes it that way since he has fun picking fights with the guards.
No one has any true grudges again him and the only time that he has truly hated someone was when Ace said he wanted to kill Alice. He became angry enough at that point to risk getting hurt when he knows that Ace has the advantage since Boris doesn’t want to kill him. Keeping a grudge against people most of the time is too much of a trouble and no fun to him, so he doesn’t It’s better to just have fights when he wants to look for them, like at the castle.
He will do anything to protect Alice. She is the first person that has cared about him, and it means a lot to him. Even though he doesn’t truly understand why she cares about others, he’s trying to keep her happy by keeping in mind what she would want. He doesn’t always do those things, but he does try his best. He really enjoys making her smile, and goes out of his way to do it. She is the only reason that he has not to kill.
He enjoys paying attention to his own looks. He likes to stand out in Wonderland and stand apart from the look of the Amusement Park. He has his own unique punk style with piercings, tattoos, chains, and a boa. He really likes the pirate motif too, and has bones and a pirate type flag in his room to show for it. He also really likes corny puns and jokes.
He is a curious cat, and loves to sneak around. He enjoys learning more about Alice’s world, and knows most of the places in Wonderland because of his curiosity. He can be really blunt and awkward at times when he doesn’t understand something, such as when he wanted to hear Alice’s heart, and just tried to pin her down so he could. When he learns that it’s not okay though he doesn’t do it again, showing that he can learn.
He never cared about what kind of trouble he made before Alice came to Wonderland. He would go out looking for trouble at the palace and have fights with others and that was fun for him. Fights to the death are exciting, and his skills with his gun kept him alive. He would get hurt but it never matters to him or anyone else.
Boris’s thinking about fights changes when Alice talks to him about it. She shows him that his life isn’t just something that should be put in danger just for some fun. Because of this he starts to take a little better care of himself. He still likes to sneak around, but he’s far more careful with his body and tries not to get into full on death fights. Now he also doesn’t just lick his wounds better, but seeks Alice out to take care of them since he thinks she’s really good at it and just really likes to have her attention all to himself too.
Though it’s clear Boris doesn’t think really hard about how he acts towards others, he shows his care for the other role players. He teases some of them, but he always knows when to stop before it becomes cruel. He takes time to get to know things about each role player in Wonderland, even when they don’t care about him. He notices their little quirks, which helps him when he wants to tease them!
He’s sincerely a nice guy and is clearly ignorant of the extent of his romantic feelings. He says that Alice makes him feel mushy inside, which is an innocent kind if love, like a first crush. He stands out from the rest in this way, since he has never wanted anything more then to make Alice smile. The idea of dating Alice is embarrassing to him. He just thinks of her the most important person in his life. He only wishes to be the one to make her happy.
[Abilities]
He has extremely good sense of smell, being able to smell blood from yards away and tell people apart just by their scents. He is very good at sneaking around, though he can get caught at times. He can dash away very fast, even when he’s hurt. He’s a good fighter, but not the best of Wonderland.
[Other important stuff] he’s a cat!
[Sample post]
[First Person]
(This is in interview style!)
- What do you think of your home world?
Wonderland is okay. I mean, I have place to stay and food to eat. Everyone is fun too. I’ve got the twins to hang out with, and I like to visit the others sometimes too, though the castle guards are never happy to see me when I do. It’s really fun sneak around there and see how far I can get into the garden without being spotted by them. I really enjoy the Amusement Park since it’s a lot of fun, and hanging out at the Mafia’s house is cool too. The Hatter has great tea. So I guess it’s pretty cool.
- If you could go back home, would you? Why or why not?
Go back? Hmmm, well if Alice went back then I’d go back in a heartbeat! I should go back to keep to my role, but they can always replace me. Haha, Alice would pull my tail for saying that, but it’s true though. It’s really odd that so many people here seem to care if a get hurt, and I think I’d miss them. I miss all the trouble making at the castle though. Huh, I guess I don’t really have an answer for that one. Besides, thinking that hard is a bit troublesome, yeah?
- What were you doing before now?
I was playing with Alice! Well, I had dropped her of at the clock tower after we had played at the Amusement Park. It was a lot of fun! Though she did pass out. Mary is pushy though and when he wants something there isn’t any getting out of it. [sighs, but then laughs.] It worked out in the end though. I got to see Alice with ears on! That was really fun.
- If you were to describe yourself in one sentence, what would that be?
I’m a relaxed guy that just does his own thing in his own way.
- If someone provoked or attacked you, what would you do?
Well BEFORE I would have attacked back without even thinking about it. Fights are really common in Wonderland after all. But killing makes Alice sad and I hate to make Alice sad. But just hurting them is okay, right? [shrugs] Can’t really say that I’d think of something right off the top of my head to do since I’ve never been attacked since Alice made me think about things like that. I’ll worry about it later.
- Would you consider yourself a power hungry individual?
Nope, that’s something for the bosses to deal with. I just like having my thing to do and watching what everyone else does. It’s not like anyone would listen even if I tried to get power. [laughs a little] Everyone has a role and power is not part of mine.
- Someone comes to you to ask for the time. How would you respond?
I’d say it’s a hair past a freckle! OH! Or it’s time for them to get a watch! Hahah~
- Someone is trying to rob you! What do you do?
Catch them and shake them until I got my stuff back! Or shoot their foot. That isn’t going to kill them and it would instantly stop the robber! That way I don’t get in trouble and I still get my stuff back.
- Do you stand up against authority, go against all odds, and if you could, pierce the heavens with your fighting spirit? If not, would you if you could?
[LAUGHS] what? I don’t need that kind of trouble. Whatever kind of person who would night be interesting though. I think I’d like to get to know someone like that. I wonder what someone piercing the heavens would look too. What exactly are the heavens anyway?
[Third Person]
It was another sunny day as Boris walked through the shopping district. The punk cat was drinking a bottle of milk and just smiling at people as he went. He would waves and say hello those that he had come to know in Somarium. It was odd to have so many people asking how he was, but he had come to accept it. It did make him think just then though.
These people were nothing like the ones at home. None of them had roles to play here or were on edge about wars between the districts. There was chaos sometimes, but it never lasted. Sure, some of the people here had come from places with wars, but it was mostly peaceful here! Heck, most of them didn’t even carry any kind of weapon around either! As Boris took a sip of his milk, he thought a moment more about it.
Alice had come from a world like this, at lest, she had told him it was more like this then Wonderland had been. She seemed to smile here more too, which made Boris happy! This place wasn’t so bad in that way. Though, when Boris first arrived it was tricky for him. He had to get to know what was normal or not around town. His ears and tail had caused a little fuss too, but at lest most people didn’t dislike them like Alice had. Another thing that came into mind was how odd it had been to have so many people actually pay attention to what he was wearing. He just shrugged it off though. The others from Wonderland hadn’t helped him settle in, but at lest Alice had.
Thinking about the others from Wonderland made him grin regardless of how little they cared. Even with Boris’s rocky start, he could always tease them, well as much as was smart to do anyway. The clock maker was good for a laugh and Ace… Well he never really talked to Ace before coming to Somarium, but he had gotten to know the Knight a little more since being here. He hated when Ace hogged Alice to himself, but he was still an interesting idiot.
Boris finished up his milk and threw the bottle away. That had been enough thinking for him. After all, thinking was boring and there was fun to have. He had learned after some trial and error that he could make some trouble in the 4th and 5th districts without getting really hurt. Playing with the monsters in the dessert had gotten him badly hurt so he kept away from there after being scolded by Alice for it. When Boris mad it to the edge of the 4th district he grinned. He wondered who would yell at him first today.
[Why do you want to play this character in Somarium?] because it has the best mods and players ever!
[Which rule was your favorite and why?] no god-modding because it’s REALLY annoying when people do.
[Do you need a promo code?] nope
[Any questions?] what is 42?
